Mazak will present its latest machine tool technologies and automation solutions during its “Discover More with Mazak Midwest” event, taking place May 5–6 at its Technology Center in Schaumburg, Illinois. The event is focused on helping job shops improve throughput, reduce setup time and increase production efficiency.
Live cutting demonstrations will highlight real-world applications across a wide range of machining processes, supported by Mazak application engineers and industry specialists.
Multi-Tasking Machines Enable Single-Setup Production
A central focus of the event is Mazak’s Multi-Tasking technology, designed to complete multiple machining operations within a single setup.
Machines such as the INTEGREX i-150 and INTEGREX j-200S NEO, along with the HQR-250MSY, QTE-200MSY and QRX-50MSY, feature turning and milling capabilities combined with Y-axis functionality and secondary spindles.
This “DONE IN ONE®” approach allows manufacturers to process parts from raw material to finished component on a single machine, reducing handling, improving accuracy and shortening cycle times.
The INTEGREX j-200S NEO is engineered for high-performance machining, offering high-torque spindles, improved positioning accuracy and expanded tool capacity for complex applications.
Five-Axis and Horizontal Machining for Complex Parts
Mazak will also demonstrate its VARIAXIS i-700T, a full five-axis machine designed for multi-sided machining of complex 3D components. The integrated turning capability reduces setup requirements and improves production efficiency.
The HCN-4000 NEO horizontal machining center is designed for both high-volume production and flexible mixed-part manufacturing, offering high precision and productivity.
Swiss-Type and CNC Turning for Precision Components
For high-volume production of small, precise parts, Mazak will present its SYNCREX Swiss-type machines, including the SYNCREX 38/9, 25/9X and 12/8.
These machines support multi-axis machining and high spindle speeds, enabling tight tolerances, improved surface finishes and reduced cycle times.
The QRX-50MSY CNC turning center, featuring dual turrets and multiple tooling positions, supports automation options such as bar feeders and part unloaders to maximize productivity.
Compact Ez Series for Flexible Manufacturing
Mazak will also showcase its Ez Series of milling and turning machines, including the VC-Ez vertical machining centers and the QT-Ez 10MY turning center.
Designed for compact installation and ease of use, these machines offer streamlined programming and fast setup capabilities. Optional integration with the MAZATROL SmoothG CNC system enables model-assisted programming to simplify part creation and reduce programming time.
Hybrid Manufacturing with Additive Integration
The event will feature Mazak’s VC-500A/5X AM HWD HYBRID machine, which combines additive and subtractive manufacturing processes.
Using Hot Wire Deposition (HWD) technology, the system builds near-net shapes by depositing metal wire before machining them to final dimensions. This approach reduces material waste, minimizes setups and shortens production lead times.
Supporting Job Shop Transformation
The showcased technologies reflect broader trends in manufacturing, including increased automation, digital integration and the need for flexible production systems.
By combining multi-tasking machining, five-axis capabilities, automation and hybrid manufacturing, Mazak aims to help job shops adapt to changing production demands while improving efficiency and profitability.
